Female representation 2


Text Box: This scene displays Cinderella dancing with the Prince as everyone watches them in delight and fondness. This scene is highlighted as being cliché because it consists of a beautiful woman dancing with a handsome man, which conforms to the stereotypical idea of a woman in film always being romantically linked to a good-looking male character in a relationship of any sort. Furthermore her costume choice within this shot appears to be a very girly big blue dress, which again conforms to the typical idea that women in film should be represented as wearing beautiful clothes and always look gorgeous. Her hair colour being blonde further conforms to the stereotypical blonde female character within films, as the lightness of the colour could represent pureness, perfection and brightness, which is exactly what women were expected, be like/look like. Text Box: This angle shot emphasises on Cinderella’s character being centre of attention as she is placed right in the centre of the shot and it seems that all eyes are on her. Everyone looking up to her highlights her sense of importance and how everyone is interested in who she is. They are seen to be staring at her beauty in awe and admiration, which further conforms to the stereotypical view of a woman in TV because typically she’s expected to be good-looking and elegant, which is exactly what Cinderella delivers within this scene.
